Today’s post is all about my new crib! I have been very excited about sharing my apartment reveal. I love creating spaces and letting my imagination come to life. Since I have a place to myself, I decided to go wild with the girly decor. So welcome to my own personal Barbie Dreamhouse.
I have always loved fashion prints and when I started thinking about how I was going to decorate my new space, I knew I wanted art work from Robert Best to be included. I love his vintage Barbie prints. I also knew that I had to have a hot pink couch. From there the Barbie theme just seemed to fit! I wanted to make sure that it was sophisticated and not childish. I was going for the vintage Barbie items, rather than the cartoon items. I did not want it to be too overwhelming and made sure to tie in subtle details.
Since I was looking for vintage pieces, I ordered a lot of the artwork from Etsy and eBay. You will see that the fabric on my barstools and two of my throw pillows are Barbie. I recovered the barstools and both pillows to add custom pieces to my place. I had a vinyl cling made of the Iconic Barbie Logo to my place on my refrigerator. These little touches make the entire space come together.
I used many shades of pink throught the design. Finding a pink trash can is harder than you would think, HA! I couldnt resist the “Ladies is Pimps too” Jay-Z quote- I am all for female empowerment and brushing the dirt off your shoulders! I have no regrets about my pink couch. Along with being cute, it is incredibly comfortable. It easily seats 3-4 people and the plush velvet is to die for. I tied in stripes and animal prints to make the apartment pop and come to life. The wallpaper I picked is not removable, but with this tutorial, I learned how to make any wall paper removable.
When I moved in I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do with the wall I have my TV on. I knew I wanted to add wallpaper, but was not sure what furniture to place there. After playing around with different pieces, I decided to turn the space into my blogging area. I am very pleased with how it turned out. The wallpaper is from WallShoppe.
Overall, I wanted a space that would make me feel empowered and get my creative juices flowing! Some days when I come home I still can not believe I live here. It is truly a blessing having a space to call my own. I hope my little space can help inspire you to make a space you love! Never be afraid to take creative risks!
