A Local Last Minute Guide

Every year it NEVER fails that I totally forget about stocking stuffers. Today I ran around like a little elf and knocked everything out. Thankfully Butchertown market always has my back. I have never met a single person that doesn’t LOVE Cellar Door Chocolates. Sea Salt Caramels are my FAV (my momma used to surprise me and ship them to me when I was in college). Bourbon Barrel Foods has mini packages of their rubs and salts that are great for my brothers, dad, and grandfathers stockings.  You also cannot go wrong with a Woodford Reserve product for any of the men in your life! My family loves to use ridiculously hilarious socks in stockings as a clever way to hide a gift card for an added element of surprise! For my true Kentucky ladies, local t-shirts with some feminine flair rolled up add a unique touch! Lastly, picked up a few cute earrings and had them gift wrapped to top it all of! With a cute Work The Metal box and bow, no one will ever know how last-minute it was!

*** Also may have gotten myself a few gifts too! Whoops!

Work The Weekend

Shopping is hard work, right?! Thankfully Work The Metal has two-weekend events coming up that will head you get ahead start on holiday decorating, gift giving and maybe even allow you to bring a friend along for the fun!

Saturday, November 11th, WTM has their Holiday Open House from 10am-5pm. The first 50 people in line will receive a free gift! This is the perfect time to grab some holiday decor to transform your home into a winter wonderland.

Friday, November 17th, WTM is staying open LATE! From 6pm-8pm they will be partying away during the “Champs and Shopping event” This is the perfect time to nail down that last-minute Thanksgiving outfit (you know, to impress those In-Laws you don’t even like), and to beat the Christmas madness by knocking out some early Christmas shopping why knocking back some Champagne! Along with Champagne, there will be Appetizers and sweet treats provided by the Butchertown Grocery, Butchertown Pizza Hall, Bourbon Barrel Foods, Cellar Door Chocolate (MY WEAKNESS), Cocktails by Ballotin Whiskey and Louisville Cream.

My best WTM advice is that if you see something you love- GET IT! Because this store has unique pieces, once an item arrives there, it is gone quickly! SO if you see a necklace, bracelet or accessory you just love, GET IT while you have the chance!

Happy Shopping and please let me know if you got a chance to “work your weekend” at Work The Metal!

Work the Metal Wednesday

Work the Metal Wednesday is the latest addition to my blog! If you have been following me on Instagram, Facebook or Snapchat for a while, then you know that this store is totally my corner of the world! This cute Local store stole my heart years ago!

My mother received a gift from a friend in the cutest Tiffany Blue Box with a hot pink ribbon wrapped around it. She was given a beautiful sterling silver platter with Fleur De Leis along the outside circle of the serving platter. We were so captivated by the adorable box, we knew we had to check it out! I remember my first time in the store, I was in love! I left with a bag full of cute Tiffany blue boxes filled with Necklaces and Bracelets.

Work the Metal quickly grew their inventory and began to sell home decor, clothing, kitchen items, and so much more. Since opneing the store has undergone many updates, additions and an expansion. The store has always been my go-to for special event dresses, everyday wear, bath bombs, white elephant gifts, decorating, wedding gifts and even baby shower gifts! When I was living in Nashville, I would drive to Louisville for their special events- they have amazing Christmas shopping events and Derby events. Thankfully I live four minutes from the store and you can find me there most saturday mornings with an armfull of goodies! You can expect to see and hear a lot more about Work The Metal in the coming weeks- Just thought I would give you a quick little introduction to the local store that stole my heart!

Welcome to the Dreamhouse: Apartment Reveal

Today’s post is all about my new crib! I have been very excited about sharing my apartment reveal. I love creating spaces and letting my imagination come to life. Since I have a place to myself, I decided to go wild with the girly decor. So welcome to my own personal Barbie Dreamhouse.

Pink Living Room

I have always loved fashion prints and when I started thinking about how I was going to decorate my new space, I knew I wanted art work from Robert Best to be included. I love his vintage Barbie prints. I also knew that I had to have a hot pink couch. From there the Barbie theme just seemed to fit! I wanted to make sure that it was sophisticated and not childish. I was going for the vintage Barbie items, rather than the cartoon items. I did not want it to be too overwhelming and made sure to tie in subtle details.

Since I was looking for vintage pieces, I ordered a lot of the artwork from Etsy and eBay. You will see that the fabric on my barstools and two of my throw pillows are Barbie. I recovered the barstools and both pillows to add custom pieces to my place. I had a vinyl cling made of the Iconic Barbie Logo to my place on my refrigerator. These little touches make the entire space come together.

I used many shades of pink throught the design. Finding a pink trash can is harder than you would think, HA! I couldnt resist the “Ladies is Pimps too” Jay-Z quote- I am all for female empowerment and brushing the dirt off your shoulders! I have no regrets about my pink couch. Along with being cute, it is incredibly comfortable. It easily seats 3-4 people and the plush velvet is to die for. I tied in stripes and animal prints to make the apartment pop and come to life. The wallpaper I picked is not removable, but with this tutorial, I learned how to make any wall paper removable.

When I moved in I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do with the wall I have my TV on. I knew I wanted to add wallpaper, but was not sure what furniture to place there. After playing around with different pieces, I decided to turn the space into my blogging area. I am very pleased with how it turned out. The wallpaper is from WallShoppe.

Overall, I wanted a space that would make me feel empowered and get my creative juices flowing! Some days when I come home I still can not believe I live here. It is truly a blessing having a space to call my own. I hope my little space can help inspire you to make a space you love! Never be afraid to take creative risks!
